Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
I'd recommend the beta version. Note that if you want to use Audacity for multitrack recording, you need to do some initial manual calibration that can be a bit tricky, in order to circumvent latency issues (i.e., avoid having a time lag between the first recorded track and subsequent overdubs). Presumably primarily for this reason, Audacity seems to be regarded mainly as an audio editor rather than a true digital audio workstation, although it can function adequately in the latter capacity. |
