Does anyone know of a macro recorder that would allow me to start a windows program, i.e. Excel or any other windows program and then continue by running a pre-recorded macro? The macro should allow selections based on screen recognition locations, or mouse positions, and allow text input for output file naming.

Am I asking for too much?

What you are asking for ought to be straightforward. See if one of these will do what you want

I use Aldo's Macro Recorder 4.1. Simple, and free (well, shareware anyway)

Nope, not asking for too much,

I know of two - Autoit and AutoHotKey.

I like AutoHotkey better because it comes with a nice recorder. Use the recorder to launch the program, then send it input via mouseclicks or key commands. Click the "cleanup" button after you're done and save the file as an AHK script.

I have used this to install entire database applications and components for two hundred people.
