I found some other freeware clocks which also talks.
Maybe some of those can suffice:

The actual name of the program is "SayTime 95". It was written by Ed Wilk and the home page used to be:

http://www.ameritech.net/users/edgemeal/home.html
However, the site is gone and the program no longer seems to be available. Even Simtel doesn't have it.

I did find this one though:

http://www.lux-aeterna.com/clock/

which is listed at CNET:

http://www.download.com/Multilingual-Speaking-Clock/3000-2350_4-10672975.html?tag=lst-0-1
Note: I haven't used this program.

Thanks John
I do have the program running and working fine. However I deleted all my all installation programs on the grounds that I could always download them at a later date. Then it dawned on me that this one took a bit of finding in the first place. I think I might just zip the folder back up and save it somewhere - just in case.

Glad you found it. However, during my search I came across this one by the same author:

SayTime 2000 v1.07.01

Talking clock/Alarm/Messenger
* Requires visual basic 6.0 runtimes
* Freeware to home users
Comment: Probably the best freeware of this kind ***** Copyright Ed Wilk/Edgemeal Software 1985-1999

I downloaded that file and unarchived it (it's a tarball). The files it contains are sourcecode. One of the files says that it's a "talking clock for SPARCstations" and that the author is Jef Poskanzer.
Ed Wilk still seems to have a website named Edgemeal Software:
http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/

however, the program isn't listed there.

But this is all moot because the OP had the program archived and has located it. 80)>

Doing it the hard way. . . dunno why people don't check the ACF pages FIRST - that *IS* what they're there for. . . Wink http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_ORGANIZERS.php#2465

The download links on that web page are no good - it's been that way for quite a while -> I doubt they'll come back to life.

I thought that PW was the best freeware according to ACF, not a compendium.
