Be that as it may, I repeat: the program "Say the Time" is not freeware. And "Smarty Pants" right back at you - and up your NOSE with it, Mr Scott! |

Thanks John
I do have the program running and working fine. However I deleted all my all installation programs on the grounds that I could always download them at a later date. Then it dawned on me that this one took a bit of finding in the first place. I think I might just zip the folder back up and save it somewhere - just in case. |

Glad you found it. However, during my search I came across this one by the same author:
SayTime 2000 v1.07.01
Talking clock/Alarm/Messenger
* Requires visual basic 6.0 runtimes
* Freeware to home users
Comment: Probably the best freeware of this kind ***** Copyright Ed Wilk/Edgemeal Software 1985-1999

I downloaded that file and unarchived it (it's a tarball). The files it contains are sourcecode. One of the files says that it's a "talking clock for SPARCstations" and that the author is Jef Poskanzer.
Ed Wilk still seems to have a website named Edgemeal Software:
http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/
however, the program isn't listed there.
But this is all moot because the OP had the program archived and has located it. 80)> |

Information about that version of SayTime is here: <http://web.archive.org/web/20000302164902/www.ameritech.net/users/edgemeal/software.html> <http://web.archive.org/web/20000302135507/www.ameritech.net/users/edgemeal/saytime95.htm> The file can be downloaded here:
http://andor.net/pub/epc/SB/
http://andor.net/pub/epc/SB/saytime2k_10701.zip 885 KB
Doing it the hard way. . . dunno why people don't check the ACF pages FIRST - that *IS* what they're there for. . . http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_ORGANIZERS.php#2465
Program: My Time (SayTime)
Company: EdgeMeal Software
Author: Ed Wilk
Ware: (Freeware)
http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/
http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/MyTime/index.htm "MyTime Talking clock w/daily AM/PM alarms with pop up text messages." "My Time v2.1 136 KB - Oct 08, 2006
Fixed some minor bugs, also updated for Windows Vista (RC2 build 5744)." http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/Files/MyTime2.1.zip 136 KB
My Time was there on 2007-03-22 - now it's gone. dunno why and alas, the author does not permit redistribution without permission. There is a "Email Edgemeal" link on the web page if anyone wishes to contact the author.

The download links on that web page are no good - it's been that way for quite a while -> I doubt they'll come back to life.

Probably as far as you needed to go with this IMO, Susan.
I thought that PW was the best freeware according to ACF, not a compendium.
