Acemoney
There is a Freeware version, and a Shareware version. Pretty nice program, but not packed with features.

I could be wrong but seem to recall Acemoney doesn't handle multiple accounts. |

This is very nice to know. Thanks for posting the link, Mike.
By the way, the download link is:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=192

They claim the Windows package is part of a stable release. |

[disclosure: This is based on Quickbooks Pro. I've never used "Simple Start"].
The best reason I've /ever/ heard for using Quickbooks came from my CPA: He has to use it because so many of his clients use it. QB is the poster child for what can go wrong when combining closed-source development and proprietary formats. Another way of putting it: learning QB will teach you QB, not bookkeeping.
Be aware that, in QuickBooks:
- Although it's a double-entry system, actual ledgers are buried - Exporting data to a non-proprietary format will cost you data - There is at least one net connection to Intuit servers at all times - Emailed doc from w/in QB routes thru Intuits servers - Ads are served and sprinkled throughout the application regularly - Snail mail adverts equally as consistent
QB was very easy to get started and fairly "reasonable" wrt price. It's turning out to be a lot harder /leaving/ QB that it has been entering.
caveat emptor,
-Craig |
